On a nice summer morning, not so long ago, one could have witnessed quite an unusual scene on the road to Krvavec. The winding road to the mountain was full of equipment, cameras, lights, crew, and cyclists. But not just any cyclists. They were no other than the best Slovenian cyclists – and indeed, the best in the world.
As Frutabela presented its new image, it also appeared in a new TV commercial. In it, the popular fruit-cereal bar was joined by the Slovenian cycling team.
In a “normal” world, it would seem impossible to gather all the best cyclists, as they would normally be racing all around the world at this time of year. Since the world has virtually stopped because of the pandemic, and so have sporting events, the best Slovenian cyclists have been spending their time in their home country, training on the roads they know so well.
With support from the Slovenian Cycling Federation, we brought all the Slovenian cycling elite to Stiška vas in the foothills of Krvavec. There was the number one in world cycling, Primož Roglič, and the number two in the UCI ranking of the best road cyclists in the world, Tadej Pogačar. They were joined by Matej Mohorič, Luka Mezgec, Jan Polanc, Jan Tratnik, young promising talent Žiga Jerman, a women’s racing team representative, Urška Žigart, and a mountain bike racing team representative, Tanja Žakelj.
